Trip to Russell Orchards
Last Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day, and I convinced Jesse into going apple picking! We drove to Russell Orchards in Ipswich, MA where every other wife and mother on the North Shore had convinced her hubby to go apple picking. We took a hay ride out to the orchard, where we were told, "Everyone's coming back with full bags of apples, so you should too." We thought that was a strange promotion of an apple orchard... shouldn't everyone come back with a full bag anyways? I mean, is the apple orchard going to run out of apples?
Well... when we started looking for apples, it became quite a hunt. The trees had been "raped and pillaged," in Jesse's words. We eventually stopped caring about what "kind" of apple we wanted and picked whatever looked faintly like an apple. We didn't want to be the first family to return with a half bag of apples.
In the end, Jesse had fun... especially with a warm serving of apple crisp in his belly. Anna really enjoyed eating an apple! I let her have a few nibbles on mine, and she couldn't get enough of it!
